Pallbearer’s opening track to their acclaimed debut LP (and my personal favorite album of 2012), “Foreigner,” has aged incredibly well. What opens up as a light strum on an acoustic guitar almost as a tuning exercise explodes into a 12-minute sprawling epic of methodical, rhythmic tumultuousness. It’s both pensive and exuberant, and achieves a rare form of beauty through utter despair and loneliness.
Happy Monday.
